Bangladesh Computer Samity central EC resigned

Seven members of the executive committee of the Bangladesh Computer Samity have resigned two days after discussing the proposal to the interim government and urging BCS members not to buy looted goods. These leaders have decided to hand in their resignations in solidarity with the anti-discrimination movement and in deference to the demand for reforms to keep the non-political and commercial organization free from politics. This is the first such resignation in BCS history.

According to sources, General Manager of Bangladesh Computer Samity Secretariat Tozammel Sikder Kiran was initially present in the online zoom meeting. Although he was informed about his resignation in the meeting, no instructions were given to him in this regard.

A top local EC member, who did not wish to be named, said the resignations would be submitted to the DTO on Wednesday. Resignation letters are completed. After they submit their resignation letter to the DTO, they will decide how the BCS will be run in the future. It was decided in the meeting that former president Shahid ul Munir and SM Wahiduzzaman will take instructions from DTO.

It is reported that the BCS executive committee held two meetings on Tuesday in the face of members' objections. First morning meeting with 11 branch committee and discussing about resignation. There was an exchange of views with the members of the current executive council along with the ordinary members. However, after not getting a response from them, President Subrata Sarkar announced his resignation on behalf of all the ECs of the current Executive Council elected at one stage in an online meeting at 2:30 PM. Responding to his call, all of the central committee finalized the decision to resign. As a result, the members of the outgoing Executive Council of Bangladesh Computer Samity were President Subrata Sarkar, Secretary General Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan, Vice President Rashed Ali Bhuiyan, Joint Secretary General SM Wahiduzzaman, Treasurer Anisur Rahman, Director Md. Manjurul Hasan and HM Shah Newaz resigned.

Earlier, these two exchange meetings were held on Saturday, August 17 at 4 pm and 6 pm. There, two separate discussion meetings were held online with the BCS Executive Committee, Branch Committees and all Standing Committees regarding BCS's proposals on issues related to the interest of IT business to the Interim Government and business dynamism.

The meeting was conducted by BCS Joint General Secretary S. M Wahiduzzaman while the BCS President Eng. Subrata Sarkar presided over. Vice president Md. Rashed Ali Bhuiyan, Secretary General Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan, Treasurer Anisur Rahman, Director Mohammad Manjurul Hasan and H.M Shah Newaz along with Branch Committee Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Standing Committee Chairman, Co-Chairman, Member Secretary, Joint Member Secretary and other leaders were present.
